Dr. Michael Schirmer of Boerne, TX passed away peacefully in the company of his loving wife, Edenilce Schirmer (Denise) on Monday, June 06, 2011 at Methodist Heart Hospital, San Antonio, TX.
Dr. Schirmer was born on April 07, 1946 in Leipzig, Germany and was raised in Canada.
He graduated from the University of Mexico earning his doctorate degree in medicine. He was an extraordinary man who spoke seven languages; was a licensed pilot and traveled, studied and worked with colleagues around the world. In addition to being a doctor, he was respected worldwide as a scientist. At his clinic in Florida he developed health therapy products, launching his career in the production and sales of therapeutic human and animal products. As well as teaching his discipline, his papers have been published in the Textbook of Natural Medicine, another to be released soon.
Mike loved animals. In addition to his pets, three dogs and four cats, Mike owned several thoroughbred race horses that he rehabilitated and went on to further their race career. Through his products he is credited with saving hundreds of animals lives and improving the quality of human life.
He loved music, art and literature. He promoted musicians and artists, as well as co-wrote many childrens books. Mike was a colorful personality who inspired and enriched our lives. We will truly miss you Mike.
DR. Schirmer is preceded in death by his father Erust Horst Schirmer and mother Ursula Emma Schirmer. He is survived by his wife, Edenilce Schirmer, son Francisco Horst Schirmer, Sister Susan Schirmer, both of Canada, his grandson Michael Schirmer from Seattle, WA, and several grandchildren.
A private Memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, June 9th, 2011 at his home in Boerne, TX.
The family requests that Memorial donations be made in Dr. Schirmers name to the
American Heart Association or ASPCA (American Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
It was Michael's wish to be cremated.
