Maureen Ann Carroll

January 31, 1948 — February 15, 2020

Maureen Ann Carroll, of San Antonio, TX, entered into eternal rest on February 15, 2020, at the age of 72. She was preceded in death by her parents William Anthony Carroll and Jeanette Rose Carroll, and her younger brother Paul Vincent Carroll. Maureen is survived by her brothers William Anthony Carroll, Jr. and his wife Sharon, and Mark Gregory Carroll and his wife Mary.
Maureen Ann Carroll was born on January 31, 1948, in Norwood, MA. She was the eldest child and only daughter of William and Jeanette
Carroll. Maureen enlisted in the Army during June 1975. She was stationed in Okinawa Japan, Ft Sam Houston, TX, and Ft Polk, LA.

Maureen returned to San Antonio and began her civil service career at Kelly AFB during June 1981. After her retirement from Kelly AFB in February 2001, Maureen returned to UTSA and obtained her Masters degree. She was certified as a Special Education teacher. She began working at UTSA in 2008 until her retirement in January 2014.
Maureen was a strong and independent woman who whole heartily served the community. She was a mentor to at-risk youth, co-workers, and
friends in need. She was an advocate for women, children, and animals. Maureen loved animals and spent time with her therapy dogs visiting seniors as well as children’s hospitals. She worked tirelessly rescuing dogs and cats and fostering them until they found their forever home. Maureen was a voracious reader and believed you should never stop learning. Maureen encouraged us to have faith and believed we are in control of our own destiny. She encouraged us to pursue higher education and practice positive visualization. Her favorite quotes were “Every day getting better and better” and “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” Maureen is remembered for her humility, care for others, but mostly for her relentless desire to evoke change. We will miss her dearly but Maureen’s legacy to make the world a better place through change will live forever. With sincere love and respect from her dear friends Melinda Zulaica, Rose Snow, and Daniel Ramon.
