Mary Gay Bellamy

Gay Bellamy went to be with the Lord March 5, 2021 at the age of 65. She was born in San Antonio, Texas December 22, 1955, the second child of Herbert and Hilda Bellamy. She was raised in San Antonio with her seven brothers and sisters. She attended John Jay High School and graduated in 1974. She attended the Herb Bellamy Judo School and excelled in Kata Competitions.

Gay has been involved in disability services her whole adult life, specializing in Deaf-Blind.

She worked for Goodwill Industries, Lighthouse for the blind, Region 20, Camp Summit, started her own agency (Hands On) and ended her career at Mission Road Ministries. She stopped and started her academic pursuits and achieved her BA at Texas State University.

Gay was a loving, generous, organized, helpful, kind, insightful, supportive, talented, creative, resourceful woman. She cared deeply for her family and was a fierce friend. She taught, inspired and mentored a generation of service providers who will carry on her work and impact hundreds of lives.

She found Hani 16 years ago, married him 14 years ago and still considered herself a newlywed.

Gay loved sipping Bailey’s Irish Creme, eating sushi, nibbling on buttered & salted popcorn, eating brownie batter and cookie dough. She liked reading Outlander, John Grisham, or true crime books; watching action movies; going to the theater & opera; solving logic puzzles; and playing on her phone. She liked to play games and was competitive, whether it was backgammon, cards, kickball, word, board, or strategy games.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Hilda T. Bellamy; father, Herbert D. Bellamy; her sister, Mary Susan Bellamy-Santos; her brother, John T. Bellamy; her great niece Shalise L. Bellamy. She is survived by her husband Hani Abdalla; brother, Robert T. Bellamy and wife Sue; brother, Joseph T. Bellamy and wife Tracy; sister, Mary Lynn Bellamy; sister, Mary Catherine Bellamy-Mills; brother Andrew T. Bellamy and wife Christina. Many nieces and nephews, a host of relatives and friends. Gay will be sorely missed by all.
