Martin Lee Gary (Marty) passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas.

Marty was born in 1960 in Fort Ord, CA, son of Hugh Richard Gary and Dorothy Ann Gary (Williams); brother to Joe Paul Gary, Richard H. Gary, and Amber Gary.

After graduating from Broken Arrow High School (1978) in Broken Arrow, OK, Marty joined the U.S. Navy where he met his wife, Linda. He served in the U.S. Navy from August 1978 to May 1985 as an Electronic Technician. After an Honorable Discharge, Marty and Linda moved to St. Mary’s County, MD. He was employed with multiple government contractors including Tracor, DynCorp, and CSC at the Patuxent Naval Air Station where he worked as an electronic engineer for 25 years. Marty later medically retired and moved with his wife to San Antonio, TX in the fall of 2017.

Marty was a man of many hobbies. His main hobby throughout his life was being an amateur radio operator with the call sign N3HRT where he made friends with people all over the world. He was an avid gun collector as well as a big Sci-Fi nerd. His favorites included Star Trek and Stargate. He was also an avid reader, passing that trait down to both of his girls. Marty was a lover of all animals. During his life he had many dogs and cats that he loved and took care of.

Marty is preceded in death by his father Hugh Richard Gary, mother Dorothy Ann Gary (Williams), and brother Joe Paul Gary.

Marty is survived by his wife of 36 years Linda Kay Gary (Sherwood); his two daughters Sarah Ann Gary (Shaun), Melanie Kay Garcia (Jarred); one step grandson Jacob Rebone-Garcia; his brother Richard H. Gary; sister Amber Gary; and multiple nieces and nephews.

In lieu of services and burial, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
