Maria Del Socorro Cervantes

Maria del Socorro (“Choco”) Cervantes, born January 19, 1937, in Crystal City, Texas, the oldest of 10 siblings, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the age of 85 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ladislado and Petra Marinez, brothers Beto, Alberto, her sister Sabina, and grandson, Mathew Cervantes.

Maria is survived by her husband of 63 years Reynaldo Cervantes, a Navy veteran, daughter, Sara Cervantes, sons and daughters-in-law, Reynaldo Jr. and Elida, Ricardo and Lydia, Mario and Nancy, Rolando and Alanna. Her grandchildren, Miguel, Cristina, Ashley, Jeremy, Alex, Ricardo, Jacob, Mario Jr, Ashley, Tabitha, Elijah, Bianca, Pate, Sara, several great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

Maria was a devoted Navy wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. Mom was beautiful, caring, soft spoken, patient, and funny. She possessed a quiet inner strength and was known for having a big heart. Mom treasured her family and loved everyone unconditionally. She loved spending time with her family, sharing her childhood memories, playing her harmonica, watching scary movies and telenovelas, and enjoyed caring for her dog, Benji, like he was her child. She found comfort and support in her Catholic faith. She was admired and respected by those she leaves behind, and they will be forever touched by her grace. Mom will be dearly missed but remembered forever in our hearts.
