Luz "Louis" E. Alvarez

February 5, 1923 — May 14, 2022

Luz E. Alvarez a proud veteran of the United States Army went to be with our Lord and Savior May 14th, 2022
passing of natural causes. As a young man he served and protected his country in World War II & the Korean War

Mr. Alvarez also known as “Quero” was born February 5th, 1923 and raised in San Antonio TX by his loving parents
Miguel & Candelaria Alvarez. Growing up with 10 siblings instilled in him to cherish the true meaning of family values thus growing his own family with his wife Rosa and their 9 children.

Quero loved life and those who knew and loved him will honor his memory by living life to the fullest as he did.

He was preceded in death by his parents Miguel & Candelaria E. Alvarez, Wife Rodolfa T. Alvarez, 8-siblings: Miguel Alvarez Jr., Victoria Calvillo, Robert Alvarez, Librada Olivarez, Joe Alvarez, Ruben Alvarez, & Claudio Alvarez, 2 sons Oscar Alvarez & Joe Luis Alvarez and 1 Grandson Jose De La Cortinas, 1 great grandson Jaime Villareal Jr. 1 great grand daughter Jaitlyn Villareal and 1 great great great grand daughter Kiara Tijerina.

Survived by his 2 sisters Maria Luisa Cantu & Gumercinda A. Marmalejo, his children & their families: Juan & Santos
Alvarez, Arthur & Rachel Alvarez, Gloria A. Kohn, Rosie & George Tijerina, Rosemary & Juan Badillo, Sylvia & Daniel
Castillo, Marie & Arturo Villegas; 33 grandchildren, 73 great great grandchildren, & 21 great great great grandchildren. His legacy will live on in our hearts forever.

A rosary will be held on Friday, June 10th 2022 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the San Fernando Cathedral (115
Main St, San Antonio, TX 78205). A funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 10th 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM
at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 10th 2022 from 1:45 PM to 2:15 PM at the
Fort Sam Houston. The family request black attire & masks be worn in the interim of celebrating Luz’s life on this
day.
