"Larry" Donsbach

March 11, 1942 — November 27, 2022

Lawrence (Larry) Anthony Donsbach was born March 11, 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA. He passed away peacefully in the care of his loving family, November 27, 2022, despite a very aggressive brain cancer.

Larry is now reunited with the love of his life, Harriet, who passed away on May 1, 2019, to whom he was married almost 54 years. He was very proud of and loved his family. He is survived by his daughters, Laura Stevens and Liesl Tijerina; grandchildren: Brittany (Aaron) Salinas, Miranda Tijerina, Aaron (Keely) Stevens, Noah Tijerina, Madison Stevens, Hannah Tijerina, Aidan Stevens, Brandon Stevens, and Cameron Stevens; brother David (Cherie) Donsbach, sister Marcee (Dennis) Boerner, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was anxiously awaiting the birth of his first great-grandson! Larry had “adopted” the Saldivar family and always treated them like his own. He is daily missed by his faithful fur baby, Reese.

Larry retired from the USAF after 20 years and worked over 15 more years in Civil Service. He moved to San Antonio after his first tour to Germany, where he raised his family away from the snow of Pittsburgh. He lived 80 full and active years, traveling with Harriet to almost all 50 states and over 25 countries. Their favorites were Hawaii and Germany! They also visited many of the National Parks with grandkids in tow! When not spending time with family, Larry, spent time with his second passion - model railroads.  He spent time creating elaborate layouts and “playing” with his trains. He owned 4 scales: HO, N, T, but predominantly Z scale. You could find him every weekend, when not traveling, at the Texas Transportation Museum running his trains for visitors! He also made beautiful stained-glass pieces for family and friends!

We love you and miss you very much! We will always carry your memory in our hearts and look forward to when we are together again.
