Juan Enrique Alaniz

February 28, 1950 — March 14, 2023

Our father was a fun-loving, spiritual, musically talented, proud retired veteran, with the best laugh in the world! He was born in San Antonio, Texas and attended Brackenridge High School. He was drafted by the U.S. Army to serve in the Vietnam War in October 1970 as a soldier and Aircraft Mechanic. When he returned home, he continued his education in the medical field, studied foreign languages, and received an Associates of Science in Airframe Mechanics and Aircraft Maintenance Technology. He eventually took a job in civil service with Kelly Air Force Base in 1977 as a jet engine mechanic, where he retired after 23 years of service.
After retirement, he explored several endeavors and hobbies to include nutritional endorsement, disc jockey, singer/entertainer, vintner, gardener (he loved his persimmons), and talented culinarian. He was a natural entertainer at heart and loved perfecting his musical craft. He was a self-taught musician that played the guitar, violin, harmonica, and piano. Dad was also dedicated to learning foreign languages and exegeting scripture. For fun, dad loved riding in his 1982 Camero with the T-tops open and beautiful women at his side. He enjoyed a good game of bingo and often won. But his most undeniable passion was KARAOKE! He had a voice that could rival Sinatra and a stage presence like Elvis. He will be greatly missed and remembered by the many lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Isabel Alaniz; sister Gloria Alaniz.
Juan is survived by his children Minh Ross, Rosalie Carpentier, Nova Marie Estrada, Yvonne Hinojosa, Monique Alaniz, and Dina Rodriguez; siblings Janie A. Jimenez, Sylvia Ann Alaniz, Eva Alan, Susie A. Martinez, and Jesse C. Alaniz; grandchildren, Steven Alexander Solis, Tesla Estrada, Crystal Estrada, Anthony Estrada, Robert Hinojosa, Tyler Davila, Kevin Ross, Nick Ross, Zachary Ross, Brandi Ross, and Minh Ross Jr.; 8 great grandchildren, Videl, Raiden, Sirenedy, Victoria, Alena, Bryson, JJ, and AJ; extended family, all his friends which he cherished deeply, and his faithful dog Guero. We love you Dad!
