John E Schaefer

August 20, 1969 — March 28, 2019

John Edward Schaefer, age 49, passed away peacefully at home in San Antonio, TX on Thursday March 28, 2019 after a long well fought battle with cancer. John was born in Poughkeepsie, New York to Frances and Thomas Schaefer on August 20, 1969. He grew up in a loving home with sisters: Margaret, Nany, Jennifer, Catherine, Theresa and brothers: Michael, Dominic and Martin. His teaching career was a source of joy and pride to John where he loved and enjoyed teaching his special needs students. John enjoyed traveling and exploring new places. He loved all kinds of food, especially Mexican food and steaks. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, selflessness, love for movies, reading and watching Texas Tech games. Go Texas Tech Red Raiders! John was a proud Catholic who loved his faith since he was a child. He was a wonderful husband to Sara for 20 years. John was not only my husband but also my best friend. To all family and friends that will miss him dearly but know that he treasured each of you and wishes you peace.
