Harry Albert Tennis

Harry Albert Tennis of San Antonio, TX passed away on Sept. 2, 2020 at the age of 85. Harry was born in Huntingdon, PA to the late Earl H. Tennis and Margaret Luring Tennis Hughey on January 26, 1935. He joined the United States Air Force in March 1953 and had a 21 year career ending in 1974. Awards and decorations he was most proud of the Meritorious Service Medal awarded for being responsible for designing, developing and successfully implementing a large portion of the Air Force Enlisted Promotion System. He also was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters for achievements in the mechanization of Personnel functions in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, he was employed with the old Alamo National Bank of San Antonio for 10 years. After Alamo Bank, he was hired by Insurance Rating Systems and continued working for another 14 years until as he would say ‘he finally got this retirement thing right’ and enjoyed many years of ‘making saw dust’ making projects for his children and grandchildren.
Harry is proceeded in death by the love of his life for 62 years, Anna Tennis. He is also proceeded in death by his brothers, David Tennis and Thomas Tennis, and his father and mother. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Kate) Carpentier of San Antonio; son, Stephen and his wife, Azalia, of Missouri City, TX; daughter, Deborah, and her husband, Roy Eaton of Crawford, TX; daughter, Sandra and her husband, David Wofford of Magnolia, TX; daughter, Cynthia, and her husband, Eugene Hubnik of Canyon Lake, TX. Also surviving him are 11 Grand Children and 11 Great-Grand Children. He is survived by his brother, James Tennis and wife, Patricia of Florida; sister, Mary and husband, Marvin Wolfgang of Florida, and sister-in-law, Janis Tennis of Colorado.
