Harriet Joan Donsbach

July 18, 1942 — May 1, 2019

Harriet was born July 18, 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA. God mercifully took her to heaven May 1, 2019, in San Antonio, TX, at the age of 76, after losing her battle with an acute illness, surrounded by her loving family.

She is survived by her husband of almost 54 years, Larry Donsbach, and daughters Laura (Michael) Stevens and Liesl Tijerina. She has nine grandchildren that she was very proud of and loved very much: Brittany Tijerina, Miranda Tijerina, Aaron Stevens, Noah Tijerina, Madison Stevens, Hannah Tijerina, Aidan Stevens, Brandon Stevens, and Cameron Stevens. She has many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, in-laws, and great friends that she considered family. She is also missed daily by her fur baby, Reese.

Harriet was a quiet and loving person. She married into the Air Force on June 19, 1965 to Larry Donsbach. After one tour to Rhein-Main AB, Germany, they moved to San Antonio, TX where they remained in the same house even after his 20 year retirement. Her life was always at her husband’s side. She was a stay-at-home mom, always available for her girls. Despite several small jobs, her family was everything to her. She was even an occasional single parent while Larry was deployed or on a TDY. After full time retirement, Harriet and Larry did a lot of traveling. They visited 41 of the 50 states (with numerous trips to Hawaii & Oregon). They visited 25 countries with several trips back to Germany and the country Harriet always wanted to visit… Ireland! They also traveled to many National Parks with various grandchildren in tow. Harriet suffered with the debilitating effects of rheumatoid arthritis but never complained. She was strong and stoic… always “hangin’ in there”. She was simply grateful for all that she had!

We love and miss you very much! We will always carry your memory in our hearts and look forward to when we are together again!

A celebration of life ceremony will be held Friday, June 7, 2019, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209 at Shelter #1 at 10am.
