Born September 10, 1945 in Bells, TN he was the son of Andrew and Bertha Cole. One of eleven

children, he was taught from an early age a fear of the Lord that would last his entire life.

Immediately following graduation from high school in 1963, MSG Cole enlisted in the United States

Marine Corps (USMC) where he served gallantly in Vietnam as a mortar unit leader from 1965-1966.

Returning from Vietnam, MSG Cole was ordered to Chicago, IL as an USMC Recruiter in 1967. In

Carmen J. Cole.

During the following 16 years, MSG Cole served as a pastor and law enforcement officer with various agencies, including as an Illinois State Trooper. In 1986, he returned to military service within the US Army Recruiting Command (USAREC). Within USAREC, he would complete the remainder of his 20 year military career, earning such distinguished honors as USAREC Recruiter of the Year, promotion to Master Sergeant, and promotion to brigade level guidance counselor.

Having honorably ended his previous marriage, on September 29, 1991 MSG Cole was married to Leah

Cole, who would become his wife and partner for the next 32 years until the end of his life. Together they enjoyed traveling, studying the Bible, and drawing ever closer to their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
