Emory Gene Johnson

September 10, 1933 — February 20, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Emory Gene Johnson announces his passing after a brief illness, on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at the age of 84 years. Emory will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 16 years, Roslyn Terry Johnson, his sons, Steven Johnson and Matt Johnson, step-son, Dustin Bracken, step-daughters, Diana Bracken (Elizabeth), Danita Reyna (Alfonso), Maria Daw (Joe), and grandchildren, Timothy Reynolds, Christopher Reynolds, Colby Cudney, and Corey Cudney. Emory was preceded in death by his parents, Cesna E. Johnson and Edith Helen Cannefax, and sons, Mark Johnson and Kevin Johnson.
Emory Gene Johnson grew up in San Antonio and graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in engineering. After graduation, although he started his career in New Jersey, he spent most of his career with Hughes Aircraft / Raytheon in California where he was a scientist that worked on Voice of America. He was also noted for being one of the top ten scientist in his field in the United States. Emory’s love of San Antonio brought him back to the area after retirement.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, February 25th, from 1:00pm-2:00pm, at Best Wester Plus (Hill Country Suites) 18555 US Hwy 281N.
