Edward Francis Lessor

May 22, 1942 — November 1, 2020

Edward Francis Lessor was born in Peabody, MA in 1942. He attended Peabody-area schools and married Margaret Lessor in 1960. Ed joined the U.S. Air Force as a young man and served for twenty years including time in Guam, Vietnam, and Korea and retired as a Technical Sergeant. He and Margaret experienced much of this time together including deployments to Maine, Texas, England, Turkey, and Italy and grew their family of five children. In 1981, he retired from the Air Force and returned to Peabody, MA where he pursued vocational training and a career as an HVAC technician. He worked for the North Shore Community College in Lynn, MA and later moved to San Antonio, TX where he worked at University of Texas, San Antonio until his retirement in 2006. In retirement, he and Margaret opened their home to dozens of foster children, volunteered at Meals on Wheels, and rocked babies at a local hospital.

Ed had an appreciation for the outdoors, fishing and camping often as a young adult. He will be remembered for his relentless teasing of his many grandchildren, his intricate conspiracy theories, and his Christmas light displays. He enjoyed Starbucks coffee--all coffee really, cookies, animated political conversations with his friends and family, many dogs including the last, Bella, and a good Western or Sci-fi novel. In his younger days, he read so much that he often read the same book several times before realizing he had already read it. Although Ed struggled with alcoholism in his early life, he achieved over forty years of sobriety in his life. He will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Margaret Lessor, his parents, Edward and Margaret Lessor, sister Patricia Beaulieu, and brother Richard Lessor. He is survived by his sister Mary Lussier, and five children Teresa Kautz, Elizabeth Pulliam, Julie McDaid (Ray McDaid), Edward Lessor (Tobi Jacobi), and Paul Lessor as well as fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
