Doris Laverne Brewton

February 22, 1924 — August 28, 2011

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother went home to be with our Lord on August 28, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Johnston and Mattie Ross Daniels and daughter Linda Sue Hayden. She is survived by her husband Roy, sons Chester and wife Brenda of Pasadena, William and wife Jeanie of Richmond, daughter Debbie Andrews and husband Randall of San Antonio and son-in-law Bud Hayden of Virginia, 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Weatherford, Texas February 22, 1924, she married Roy Brewton 70 years ago on February 22, 1941, devoted to a life of ministry at her husband’s side. Doris never met a stranger and loved everyone she came in contact with always sharing her kindness with a smile, quick wit and humor, a hug and addressing them as “honey”. She loved music, singing in the choir, writing short stories, poems and bits of humor. Special thank you to Kim Kilianski, caregiver and new found friend, for all the wonderful loving attention and to Amedisys Hospice Services for their care and support.

Services will be September 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Windcrest United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Windcrest United Methodist Church Music Ministry or Windcrest United Methodist Church Foundation.
