Betty Kathryn Gotthardt

November 24, 1930 — May 12, 2021

Betty Kathryn Baylor Gotthardt passed away peacefully and went to be with our Lord during the early morning hours of May 12th, 2021. The youngest of four siblings, Betty was born and raised in San Antonio, TX, and graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1948. After her graduation, she embarked on an engineering drafting career that she would grow and flourish in until her retirement from Ng & Associates of San Antonio, TX in 2010.

Betty married her husband of 63 years, William “Bill” Gus Gotthardt in 1953. Bill, Betty, and their four children lived a life full of love, family, and service to others. Betty was the consummate hostess and took pride in making all feel welcome in her home. Loved ones would travel across the country to gather in Bill and Bettys’ home and make cherished memories, especially during their annual Christmas party.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband Bill Gotthardt, her parents R.N. Baylor and Thelma Hartle Baylor, her brother Roland Baylor and wife Sally, her sister Elizabeth Thomas and husband George, her brother Raymond Baylor, and her sons-in-law John Hay, Jerry Doherty, and Jeptha Tatum. She is survived by her son Sterling Gotthardt and wife Kim, her daughters Linda Tatum, Tracey Hay, Kimberly Simpson, and husband Dave, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces, and nephews whom she loved.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 17, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Bulverde Baptist Church located at 1331 Bulverde Rd., Bulverde, TX. Interment immediately to follow at San Fernando Cemetery III located at 1735 Cupples Rd., San Antonio, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
