Berta G. Vera

March 30, 1944 — December 18, 2021

On December 18th, 2021, Berta Garcia Vera left us to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother with a great sense of humor. She was the daughter of Anastacio Garcia and Elisa Sandoval Garcia. She was blessed with three brothers Eloy Garcia, Ysidro Garcia, Jesus Garcia, and with four sisters Consuelo Alvarez, Oralia Flores, Alicia Herrera, and Aurelia Reyes. She is survived by her sister Aurelia and her son Carlos Vera Sr. and her daughter-in-law Rita Vera along with her three grandsons David Vera (wife Karen Vera), Carlos Vera Jr., Brandon Vera, and her great-grandson Roman Vera.

Berta was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas where she graduated from Brownsville High School.

In her senior year, she meet and married US Airforce Sergeant Elijio Lerma Vera, and was blessed to share their son.

She had to learn too soon the loss of her husband a great Veteran and had to raise her son alone which she would give the world.

She worked for Levi Strauss as an inspector for 25 years where retired and continued to work by helping the elderly.

She remarried and was widowed to US Navy Corporal Veteran Juan B. Flores. She would do anything for her son and grandsons and loved to spoil them. She was a fighter who survived two husbands and Breast Cancer. She loved to spend time with her family and traveled with her friends often with Bingo being her favorite hobby. Berta loved the catches of fish her son brought home for her and was so proud of the husband and father he became. Her home was an open place for her family filled with love and memories, adoring her nieces and nephews. Berta touched the lives of those dear to her and will be held deep in their hearts.

She will be truly missed by her family and friends she would give everything to help a true giver that God blessed us with.

We love you so much Berta (Birdy) and pray for your peace and happiness with our Lord.
