Bert Brown

June 19, 1954 — April 1, 2021

Bert John Brown, 67, passed away in his San Antonio, TX home on April 1, 2021.

Bert was born on June 19, 1954 to parents Woodrow and Ernestine Brown in Milwaukee, WI. After graduating high school in Milwaukee, WI, he went on to pursue a career in the Army. Bert served many tours overseas while in the Army in the special forces, including Vietnam. While in the Army, Bert obtained his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Baylor University in Waco, TX. After serving 20 years, he honorably retired from the Army. He then took up the hobby of working on classic cars, which then turned into a full-time career. Bert was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle rider, who would ride across the country no matter the weather. He was also a long-time member of the Alamo Classic Chevy Club, where he served as the president for over 25 years. If he wasn’t on his motorcycle or with the club, he was found making memories with his family.

Bert is preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Wilson Brown (d. 1972), mother, Ernestine Moon Brown (d. 1988), brother, Woodrow Brown (d. 1985), sister, Sandy Brown Holden (d. 2018), and half-sister, Wanda Sanders Countryman Elam (d. April 4 2010).

Bert is survived by his wife, Jerri L Brown (Schreiber) of 50 years; sons, Wayne W Brown (m. Tami L Brown), and Derek L Brown; brother Joseph Brown (m. Sue Brown), half-sister Jerilyn Bell (m. Dennis Bell); grandchildren, Zachery J Brown, and Brittany A Brown; great-grandchildren, Katelyn E Hildago, Liam W Brown, Connor J Brown, and Isabella R Brown; and his puppies, Brutus and Toby; and other extended family.

The services will be held on May 4, 2021 at Good News Lutheran Church in San Antonio, TX at 10 a.m. There will be a comfort meal to follow the services at the church. Internment services will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, this will be invitation only due to covid restrictions.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Good News Lutheran Church or the San Antonio Children’s Shelter.
