Albert Quintanilla

Albert Quintanilla passed away on Saturday, January 23rd at the age of 89. Throughout his life Albert worked. As a twelve year old he had a newspaper route. He taught his grandmother who didn’t know how to drive to drive him on his paper route. That year he won a trip to a boys summer camp in Kerrville for having the most newspaper subscriptions. He enjoyed playing baseball as a teenager in the southside of San Antonio with his brothers Paul and Pete. After graduating from Burbank High School he enlisted in the United States Army where he was assigned to be a medic. He proudly served in the Korean War not as a medic, but was assigned to drive an armored tank because he was so thin. He then worked for the United States Federal Civil Service at Kelly Air Force Base as an aircraft wing specialist, again because of his slender physique. Shortly after retiring from Kelly he worked in maintenance at the airport for the city of San Antonio. His last job at the age of 80 was working at HEB. Albert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially loved all animals.

Albert will be greatly missed. Albert is survived by his children: David Quintanilla (Patty) and Peggy Espinor (Robert); step children: Graciela Ancria (Rodolfo), Esmeralda, Duran, and step daughter-in-law Barbara Guevara Perez; grandchildren: David Jr. (Christie) and Vincent Quintanilla, Ryan and Krystal Espinor, numerous Lopez and Garcia step grandchildren; great grandsons: David Quintanilla III and Liam Cammack; brother, Paul Quintanilla; sister, Sylvia Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Ignacio and Rosa Quintanilla; brothers: Pete, Willie, and Eddie Quintanilla; his wife, Isabel Quintanilla; and his step son Robert Perez.
