Adrian Cortez

April 4, 1979 — October 2, 2019

In loving memory…….
Gone too soon is our beloved Adrian Cortez. He was an exceptional husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin as well as a loyal and trusted friend to many. Adrian was born April 4, 1979 to Dolores Cortez. She raised him as a single mom but was able to instill values needed to be a great man. She was not only his mom but his mentor and friend– he would teach his mom the new dance craze…..New Jack Swing may have been one, lol. After graduating high school he met Stephanie, his “hunny bun” and after a year spent getting to know each other they married. This November marks their 20 years of marriage, a true testament of loyalty. Together they raised two young men. Keoni, 19 years old, a recent high school graduate and Mehki, 14 years old, who recently started his freshman year in high school. Adrian did his best to impart good examples of what it is to be a man, a gentleman. To be a provider, to be respectful, to be loyal. He taught Keoni the useful knowledge of working on vehicles, together they work on their low profile trucks, something they enjoyed together. Also a skill that helped Keoni to land a job at the Toyota plant where his dad worked for almost 9 years. With Mehki, he taught him the skills of cooking. His story to Mehki was “if you learn to cook you can catch a good woman like I caught your mom….with my delicious cooking”. Together with Stephanie they taught their sons what it meant to be a familly….. #TeamBringIt. A tag that would take them through some difficult times, times that made their family bond stronger. Last year, 2018, proved to be a challenging year for the Cortez family. Adrian’s kidney started to fail and his thyroid became cancerous. With much support from his wife and sons as well as family and friends, from his Truck Club Layin on the World “LOW” to his friends from the plant they managed to get the needed support to help Adrian and Stephanie begin their battle. By the summer Adrian had battled and won his fight with cancer; and by the fall with the match of his wife’s kidney was able to have a successful kidney transplant. #TeamBringIt had faced their battles and won! Adrian and Stephanie were approaching their one year anniversary as “kidney buddies” before he was sadly taken from us. Adrian will be remembered for his infectious smile; you couldn’t help to see him and smile. He may have had challenges in life but he didn’t complain. He took time to ask others how they were, remembering a story shared and would follow up out of genuine care. He had dance skills and shared moments with his sons dancing at events. He had a great laugh and a love for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed. Always remembered and always on our hearts. Adrian is preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Cortez. He is survived by his wife Stephanie, sons Keoni and Mehki. Brothers Felix (Becky) Dominguez and Roland Calvo. Sisters Elizabeth (Sonny) Hernandez, Leticia Muniz, Daniella Montalvo and Tiffany Almendariz; Nieces and nephews. And countless friends that were like family.
